The Mayor and City Council would like to extend a warm welcome to every citizen. If you are new to the area, Welcome to Hurst. We are very glad you have joined our current residents to make Hurst your home. Hurst is a great place to live and raise your family. It is truly a "Quality of Life City". Hurst has a city council that is dedicated and works hard for its citizens. The council has adopted a strategic planning process that sets Hurst apart from most cities in Texas. The council set up a volunteer program that is the national model for municipal volunteer programs. I encourage you to get to know your entire city council, since they all serve the city at large. Give them a call anytime you need help on any issue. I also want to encourage you to attend one of the council meetings. The council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:30 PM.The average meeting is one and one-half hours. The public is always invited to speak. We encourage your input.
We are very proud of our City of Hurst web site. It contains a lot of information about the city and community activities. It truly is a resource for the citizens. If you are a new citizen, be sure to visit the "Newcomer's Guide" page. Another area of interest is "News to Use". Spend a minute there; it can be a good resource.
One thing that makes Hurst a Quality of Life City is its many amenities. We have great water parks, recreation facilities, good meeting places and the best Fourth of July fire works display in the area. Be sure to make your calendars for the beautiful tree lighting ceremony at City Hall in December. For a regular source of information, check on the web page frequently and watch for notices in your monthly water bill.
It is an honor to be on the City Council and serve the great citizens of Hurst.
Sincerely,

Richard Ward
Mayor
