Fire Prevention Month

Every October the Hurst Fire Department stresses fire safety education. We give presentations to Hurst elementary schools and have Open House for the public. The Fire Department has an Open House for Citizens to learn more about the Hurst Fire Department and fire prevention. The Open House is generally the last Saturday in September. In 2008, the Open House will be on September 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There are seven elementary schools in the City of Hurst and the Fire Prevention division coordinates with the teachers to deliver an age appropriate message to each student every year they are in elementary school. The program is coordinated by Fire Prevention, taught by the teachers and then reinforced by Fire Operations personnel who spend a day at each school, reaching about four thousand children per year.
