Texas Watch Your Car H.E.A.T. (Help End Auto Theft)

The Hurst Police Department Community Services Unit coordinates the statewide Texas Watch Your Car H.E.A.T. program for our citizens. Texas Watch Your Car H.E.A.T. (Help End Auto Theft) is a voluntary statewide vehicle registration and theft deterrent program administered by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Vehicle owners can sign an agreement with a participating law enforcement agency that their vehicle is not normally operated between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. If peace officers observe the participating vehicle being driven anywhere in Texas during those hours, they may stop the vehicle and verify ownership. Owners can grant additional authority at the time of registration to have their vehicle stopped any time of the day if is being driven from Texas into Mexico.
