The City of Hurst is accepting applications for the seasonal/part-time position of WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR to work approximately 2.5 hours/day plus additional time for paperwork. Duties are performed under the direct supervision of the Learn To Swim Coordinator or Assistant Learn To Swim Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for providing aquatic learning in a safe environment. Planning and managing their classes, teaching skills at the appropriate swimmer level, and producing and submitting legible paperwork. Arrive at work on time and work assigned schedule.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Be mentally and physically fit. Be responsible, dependable, professional, and able to work effectively in a public environment. Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Have a desire to teach individuals of all ages and abilities the necessary aquatic skills. Positive references from previous employers and/or supervisors.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum age of 16 years old and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid certifications required. Previous experience conducting swim lessons preferred, but not required.
